COMFORT INVITES VISITORS TO CELEBRATE THE SEASON
AT SPRING TRADE DAY AND MUSIC FEST
SATURDAY, APRIL 5

U.S. National Irish Storytelling Champion, Chuck Wagon Cooking
Demonstration Highlight Family Activities

Comfort, Texas …The town of Comfort invites visitors to celebrate spring at the annual Spring Trade Day and Music Fest on Saturday, April 5. The event combines fun family activities with country gospel music and spring shopping.

Spring Trade Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Comfort Park on Texas Highway 27, off of IH-10.

Irish storytelling by Jane McDaniel, who has held the U.S. National Irish Storytelling Championship since 2004, highlights the family activities. McDaniel has been telling stories since she was eight years old. Her tales come from the ancient, epic tellings of the Celtic culture and from her own experiences growing up in the 1950s as well as from tales of wonder and change from all over the world. Her focus is on building a bridge between the old and the new. Her performance is at 1 p.m.

Other family activities include face painting by artist Nancy McGalliard, fun photos with spring-themed cut-outs, a petting zoo, book walk, toy walk and piñata games. Reflecting the rural heritage of the town, Spring Trade Day also will include a goat demonstration by Cindy Young of Boot Hill Farms, a horseshoe throwing contest, a display of antique tractors and a chuck wagon cooking demonstration by Ranch 22.

Spring Trade Day is ideal for spring shopping. It includes a selection of arts and crafts, sand crosses, bird houses, wood crafts, folk art, plants and garden accessories. Also featured will be antiques and vintage items, food items, seasonal décor, home décor, adult and children’s clothing, jewelry, purses, and travel bags.

The ongoing Music Fest will feature singers and bands from the surrounding area. Visitors are invited to bring their lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the music sitting on the lawn around the gazebo in Comfort Park . Barbecue and beverages will be available for purchase.
